If your organization is working or intending to work with data, but having trouble either gathering it, processing it or finding insights in it, I can help! Data Collection & Webscraping

The first step of any data-driven project is finding the idea and type of data you’re looking for, and going about gathering it. Whether it is by finding ready-made datasets that match your idea, or collecting the data from scratch, I can help because I have done this numerous times over the past few years.

I am familiar with data searches online and sifting through commonly used data sources. Moreover, I am proficient at webscraping (i.e. gathering data directly on webpages, usually via coding or some specific webscraping service), which is often necessary because there isn’t always a preexisting dataset that’s relevant and useful for a new project!

It’s not the only tool I can use, but I am most familiar with Python when it comes to webscraping, as shown in this GitHub repository containing my various football-related scrapers. You can also take a look here, where I highlighted some of the data I gathered from football websites with these scrapers.

Data Cleaning/Processing/Preparation

Likewise, I have a lot of experience with data wrangling, namely the process of converting raw data into a usable form for analysis. I can work with spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.), Python, R or other tools (OpenRefine), to verify/validate data, fix issues, clean it up and if necessary complement it (for example by using another data source containing further information).

Data Exploration & Analysis

Once you have the dataset and it’s been pre-processed to make sure it’s usable, the actual work can still be tricky! In order to find insights in the data, I can carry out exploratory data analysis and data visualization and hence help you with your project.
