Based on work I did with a friend during our studies in political science, I published an analysis of the mode of political organisation within the Zapatista rebellion (in Chiapas, northern Mexico) on The Commoner blog. In the first part, we look at the history of the Zapatista rebellion and explore the meaning of autonomy in this context. In the second part, we argue that their federal and ‘non-dissociative’ political system, and their common principle of ‘mandar obedeciendo‘, have made a complete despecialisation of politics possible.
